A free image cropper with the presets you actually need

Drop an image, pick Instagram / Story / Reel / YouTube / OG, drag the box, download. Nothing leaves your device.

Most online croppers either upload your image to a server, put a watermark on the output, or hide the preset you need behind a paid tier. Crop does none of that. It uses the browser's canvas element to slice pixels locally, and ships with a comprehensive list of the social and web aspect ratios people actually crop for.

Every preset, in one place

PresetRatioCommon use
Square1 : 1Instagram post, profile picture, avatar
Instagram Portrait4 : 5Feed post, sponsored post
Story / Reel9 : 16Instagram Story, Reel, TikTok, YouTube Short
YouTube Thumbnail16 : 9YouTube video thumbnail, hero banner, widescreen
OG / Twitter Card1.91 : 1Open Graph image, link preview across most platforms
Twitter Header3 : 1X / Twitter profile banner

LinkedIn Banner4 : 1LinkedIn profile background image
Pinterest Pin2 : 3Standard pin

Platform aspect ratios can change; presets reflect current published guidance as of 2026.

Why in-browser matters

An online cropper that uploads your image is doing far more than it needs to. The math of a crop is trivial — the reason most tools use a server is to gate the feature behind a signup or a paid tier. Crop skips the server. Pixels stay on your device. Nothing is stored, tracked, or retained.

Frequently asked

Is Crop really free? What is the catch?

Yes — no signup, no watermark, no daily cap. There is no server cost to recoup because cropping runs in your browser using the canvas element.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Open the Network tab while cropping — you will see zero image uploads. The only network requests are the page and fonts on first load.

Can I crop to an exact pixel size?

Yes. Pick an aspect ratio and drag the crop box, then set the Output width and height in pixels — the final image will be resized to match while preserving the chosen aspect.

Which format should I pick for the output?

PNG for lossless (best when you need transparency or exact pixels — larger file). JPEG for photos where file size matters. WebP for the best size-to-quality ratio and modern browser support.

Can I rotate or flip the image?

Yes. Rotate in 90° increments and flip horizontally or vertically at any point in the workflow.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes — the crop box and handles support touch drag on phones and tablets.

Can I crop multiple images at once?

Not yet. Bulk cropping with a fixed aspect and smart center-crop is on the roadmap. For now, Crop is a one-image-at-a-time tool.

Can I use Crop for commercial work?

Yes. Free for any use — personal, agency, freelance, commercial. No attribution required.
